The AHN chat server
To use the chat room, you can either use the java client by clicking on this link, http://chat.australianhunting.net/login.htm
that will bring you to a log in screen that looks like this,
Note, due to recent hacking attempts, all users must now register on the server, to do this, click on the Sign Up link below.
That will get to to this page where you replace Guest with your username and then click on Submit Query,
Once you have been registered you will receive notification and then you just go back to the original login page http://chat.australianhunting.net/login.htm
Replace guest with your username and password if you choose one.
and then click on Sign On.
This will bring you into the Chat room which looks similar to this
In the top left you have the room tabs, and the top right, who is in the room. To type a message, just type in the very bottom text bar and then either hit enter (on your keyboard Easy <g>), or click on the Send button. Your message will be displayed in the left window followed by any replies you may get.
That's about it, once you get familiar with the basics, there are other buttons you can use for various things, if you hover your mouse over them you get a description on what they do.
For those wanting something a bit more advanced, download an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) client like mIRC , and install it. Once installed, use the following settings to access the server and room;
Server = chat.australianhunting.net,
Port = 6667
room name = AHN or AHNI (if you are a member) .
The IRC room looks something like this;
Here are a few basic and simple commands for you to use in case you want to change your nickname, leave the room, join another room or even register your nick, that way no one else can use it.
NOTE: syntax = text you type in. All commands start with a "/" backslash.
Changing Your Nick
Syntax: ----> /nick yourNicknameHere
Example:----> /nick Easy
Registering a Nickname
Syntax:----> /Services REGISTER yourNicknameHere yourPasswordHere
Example:----> /Services REGISTER Easy shaunsaclown
Changing Your Password
Syntax:----> /Services SET yourNicknameHere PASS newPasswordHere
Example:----> /Services SET Easy PASS shaunsaclown
Identifying to the server
Syntax:----> /pass YourPasswordHere
Example:----> /pass shaunsaclown
Leaving a room
Syntax:----> /part
Joining a room
Syntax:---> /join #AHN
Joining a pass protected room
Syntax:---> /join #AHNI password
