Hi AllI just wanted to give you an update on what has been happening with AHNi – Australian Hunting Net Inc – our new AHN hunting club… As you may be aware AHNi was officially launched on the 1st August and in that short time the club has already grown to sixty paid-up members. AHNi has separate forums at the top of the AHN forum but only one of them can be viewed by non-AHNi members. That is if your aren’t a member yet there are other forums up there that you cant see!! Ooooohh ….secrets!! ;D In recent days we have been working at establishing some dedicated work groups – Hunting Resources, Political Lobby, Media & PR and AHNi Events & Activities. Each of these focused groups will have six elected official representatives .... although all AHNi members will be able to participate in their daily activities. The Hunting Resources group will be responsible for building a hunting resources database and developing a network of club properties and hunting access. The Political Lobby Group will be responsible for directly lobbying legislators and government departments for the benefit of AHNi members. The Media & PR group will represent AHNi members and hunting and firearms owners in a positive light to the media. The Activities & Events group will organise and coordinate AHNi events and functions , including target shoots, postal shoots, fund raisers, raffles, social functions, etc. If you have been thinking about joining but haven’t done so yet or think you might like to nominate yourself for an official position for these work groups – then you had better get in there and sign up!! Nominations close on the 27th of this month. Membership is only $50 per annum and family membership is available. For membership details look here - Application FormBenefits to members include $10M public liability insurance, access to our hunting resources database and in the future - access to club properties. AHNi is recognised in NSW and Victoria as a genuine reason to get a firearms licence and we are busy working on acceptance in other states. In states like WA – we are hoping that when we have club properties signed-up, genuine reason requirements will be met for those members living there. In the Political Lobby Group we will be working hard to meet and verify these requirements in other states and to address other issues important to AHNi members. In addition, club and AHN sponsors offer AHNi members exclusive discounts and rebates to the club. So if you have an interest in joining Australia’s first National approved Internet hunting club…swing by and have a look. Thanks for your support Matt Graham AHNi Vice President (NSW) COMPETITION: Anyone who signs up for membership between now and the 31st May 2009 l go into a draw for a Wolf Eyes Big Bunny Buster hunter solo torch -courtesy of our sponsors - Wolfeyes

Hi everyone, its that time again and we have some more AHN merchandise to sell. This lot is left over from the recent SHOT show and so shirt and t-shirt sizes are limited to what we have in stock.
Anyone wanting any of our gear, including work/hunting shirts, t-shirts, caps, stubby holders and stickers, please visit this thread for details

Hiya. As many of you would be aware, AHN outgrew the old server again, the traffic and volume of posts was just too much for the old girl and so we have now purchased a dedicated server with loads of space and bandwidth. Many of the members were very generous in donating funds towards this project as it is far from cheap and anyone else wishing to do so, is more than welcome. You can read more about it all in this post , pay particular attention to the last post. If you are having issues logging in or posting, please delete any cookies on your system with "australianhunting.net" in them, restart your browser and then you should be fine. As its a new server and IP, the old cookies may be causing session error. If you have further issue, please contact the admin .

Hi everyone,
Ok, we have moved AHN to a new server, hopefully this one will keep up with our growth rate. You should notice a marked increase in loading speed and there should be no more stalling, time outs or SMF Database errors.
As you can appreciate, there is a lot of work happening behind the scenes to keep AHN running and the costs are increasing all the time. This new machine is still a shared server as the cost of a dedicated machine was just out of our reach, but at least now we have the option with the new host to go dedicated if we need to. There are also only 3 clients on this machine compared to 178 on the old server.
Once again we thank you for your support and patience while we moved the site, hopefully you can now carry on as usual without any interuptions.

On another note, we would also like to congratulate the eight AHN members who have been selected to stand as candidates for The Australian Shooters Party in the Federal election. You can read all about that and find out who they are in this thread. We wish you all the best of luck and lets see if we can't get rid of some Greens and send them back to the forests where apparently they think we should all live.

Hi Everyone,
Well, AHN is still growing at an alarming rate, we are currently still picking up an average of 5 new members a day and are now burning up in excess of 20 Gigabytes of bandwidth a month. With nearly 400 new posts a day, it is becoming more difficult to find the time to catch up on everything.
AHN has also recently been involved in helping out with the never ending drought. Our members kindly put their hands in their pockets and purchased a set of Toyota tyres for a down on his luck sheep farmer in North West NSW.
We have recently setup the AHN Relief Fund which will be an ongoing collection of funds to help out those who need a hand up, be it a farmer or a member of AHN. From time to time we will make a cash donation to our chosen charity "Legacy". You can donate to this at any time you like, any amount you like as every cent will be appreciated. The instructions for donations are listed at the link provided above.
You can of course also donate money towards the running and upkeep of AHN through the same system at any time, this is of course done on a voluntary basis and is by no means a requirement for membership or entry to any of the forum areas.
For the keen writers among you, we are currently running a competition where the prize is the much sought out Wolf Eyes Torch, torch specs and competition entry details can be found here
For the technically minded, we have opened up a new forum called Tech Centre, here you can ask your technical questions or if so inclined, answer them. This new forum is also visited by the well known and respected Gun Smith Shane Clancy and has proven to be a big hit so far.
Finally, the latest addition to AHN is a brand new forum called "In The Line of Fire", this forum had official representatives from organisations such as the SSAA, The Shooters Party, Combined Firearms Council of Victoria, Women in Shooting and Hunting and The NSW Game Council. That is hopefully just the start and we are currently negotiating with quite a few other organisations to see if we can't become one united voice once and for all.
Pop in and say gidday, or just have a read, you never know you may just learn something, or even better, teach somebody something you know.

Hi everyone,
We have recently added a few more features into the integrated Australian Hunting Net web site. You will now see a few more link buttons on the top menu, Forum Rules, AHN Journal, Links and Gallery, marked in red below;

On the AHN coloured theme, you will find the Forum Rules and AHN Journal under the Forum drop down box.
Feel free to add any links you find handy, be it your favourite shopping site, another forum or your own website, if you think it need another category, please let us know in the forums. The Gallery is on a trial for a short period, we need to keep an eye on the server load and also the traffic we use, at the moment we look like breaking or 20gb limit for the month, if so we will add to that limit before that happens.
You may like to read the Forum Rules every now and then to remind you what you can and can't post on the forums, and please point anyone you think is outside those rules to the link.
Now that the AHN Journal is back, it would be great if you guys can type up and send in a story to share, doesn't matter if its something that happened many years ago as its always fun to read about the adventures of others.
Seems the word must be spreading about AHN again as we are picking up on average 100 new members a month, the more the merrier. We have also picked up a few new sponsors and there are a few more looking into it at the moment, this means we can keep upgrading our system to handle the extra load.
All in all, things appear to be going great now with the new server and new software, we hope you are all happy with the recent changes and new features.
Once again, thank you for your continued support, without you, there would be no AHN.

Hi,
As you can see, we have bowed to the members wishes and yet again updated the AHN forums, hopefully this will be the last time.
You can now choose between two templates, the default and AHN Coloured.
The default template has been altered slightly to fix fonts and colours, and the colour template has been added to let you choose from
seven different colours and also choose your font size. You can choose your template direct from the right hand menu, if you don't see a menu (right or left) you can toggle them with the + - icons just to the right of the logout link at the top of the page (default template), and to the left of the Portal link (coloured template). There are also a few new features that will be implemented over the next couple of weeks, we will tell you more about them as they are installed. Have a play, click anything new and see what it does, and anything you can't work out, feel free to ask. Thanks, and hope you like the new layout. NOTE: , please remember that new members will not be activated using Hotmail, Yahoo, MSN, Gmail or any other free web based e-mail accounts unless given specific permission by the admins. You should also take the time to read our Forum Rules before posting anything.
